Patrick Nelson Dip. SACH. Hyp, NCFE Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy D.Hyp, Dip.Stress, Dip.Psy, Cert Hsc. CCC Reg F.FETT GHR.Reg, GQHP, MHA, UKHR, UKCHO (reg. number 81479) is an experienced counsellor and hypnotherapist who has studied a number of therapeutic modalities and has helped many clients overcome many different types of problem.
Having already studied stress management consultation, counselling skills and theory and relaxation therapy Patrick went on to qualify as a hypnotherapist early in 2001, and since then he has furthered his studies at a more advanced level, including studying Analytic and Cognitive hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and counselling at the School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy (in Birmingham with Tom Barber and Jure Biechonski and in Oxford with Ian Clancy). His therapy qualifications include certification in Stress Management, Hypnotherapy, Relaxation Therapy, Healing Meditation, Cognitive Therapy and other areas. Patrick has also appeared on radio about talking therapies (and their use in helping people escape from depression etc) a number of times.
Patrick's approach to therapy is based upon brief solution focused therapy and systematic eclecticism. He favours the use of techniques with a solid history of success and he works holistically in a primarily outcome oriented way. He uses a wide range of counselling, psychotherapeutic and hypnotherapeutic techniques to help his clients overcome presenting problems and achieve their goals.
Patrick's preferred specialisms include hypno-healing, confidence and motivation building and helping clients overcome emotional, habit and phobia problems. He recognises that every client is a unique individual and he uses the information that he learns from the client during the early stages of therapy to design and develop a tailor made therapeutic programme for them.
Patrick likes to help clients to overcome a wide range of problems including: depression, anxiety, stress, panic disorders, nightmares, trauma, phobias, insomnia, addictions, inappropriate anger, self identity issues, nervousness, IBS, chronic pain, painful memories, interpersonal and relationship problems, negative thought patterns. He also likes to help clients who wish to grow in confidence, develop self esteem, improve personal performance, give up smoking or deal with life changes.
The number of therapy sessions needed to help a particular client overcome their presenting issue varies according to the type of problem and certain other factors.
